Prairie Dog Mitigation
Population control and property-specific mitigation for prairie dog colonies on ranches, farms, acreage, commercial land, and other private property.

Professional wildlife damage control for ranches, acreage, farms, and rural properties throughout Southwest Colorado.
Based in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Serving Archuleta, La Plata & Rio Grande Counties.
A prairie dog colony rarely stays the same size. As burrow systems expand, they work their way into pasture, hay fields, ditches, two-track roads, fence lines, corrals, and the ground around buildings and equipment. Left alone, a small patch of activity can turn into lost forage, unstable footing near livestock, and repairs you did not plan for.

Growing populations that are becoming difficult to manage

This isn't one-size-fits-all pest control. Every property is different. We look at the size of the property, affected area, wildlife population, livestock, surrounding land, and the owner's goals before recommending an approach.

Send us your location, property size, and what you're seeing.
We'll determine the scope of the problem and discuss the best approach.
We'll schedule mitigation based on the property, wildlife activity, and conditions.

About Us
Southwest Wildlife Mitigation is a local operation based in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. We work directly with landowners, ranch managers, and property managers across Archuleta, La Plata, and Rio Grande Counties on prairie dog colonies, badger damage, and other burrowing wildlife causing real problems on working land.
We know the difference between a few holes at the edge of a hay field and a colony spreading toward corrals, ditches, and equipment yards. Every property gets looked at on its own terms, and we tell you plainly what we think is reasonable to expect.
All work is done on private property with landowner authorization and in line with applicable state and local wildlife regulations. We won't promise that every species can be removed or controlled — we'll tell you what we can do and how we'd approach it.
Have prairie dogs or other wildlife becoming a problem? Send us a few details and we'll get back to you about the property and available options.
